Mechanism of Action

Etoricoxib selectively inhibits the Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme responsible for producing prostaglandins that cause pain, inflammation, and swelling.

How It Works:

1. Inflammatory conditions stimulate COX-2 enzyme production.
2. COX-2 generates prostaglandins responsible for pain and inflammation.
3. Etoricoxib blocks COX-2 activity.
4. Prostaglandin production decreases.
5. Pain, swelling, stiffness, and inflammation are reduced.

Unlike traditional NSAIDs, Etoricoxib has minimal effect on COX-1, which helps protect the stomach lining.
