Product Overview

UA RABI-20 is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) containing Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg, designed to effectively reduce gastric acid secretion. It provides rapid relief and long-lasting control of acid-related disorders such as GERD, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and erosive esophagitis.

Composition

  • Each enteric-coated tablet contains:
    • Rabeprazole Sodium IP – 20 mg

Mechanism of Action

Rabeprazole selectively inhibits the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system (the gastric proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach.

  • Blocks the final step of acid production
  • Reduces both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion
  • Promotes healing of acid-related mucosal damage

Clinical Indications

UA RABI-20 is indicated for:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • Duodenal and Gastric Ulcers
  • Zollinger–Ellison Syndrome
  • Erosive Esophagitis
  • Dyspepsia and Acid Peptic Disorders
  • Adjuvant therapy with antibiotics for H. pylori eradication

Onset & Duration of Action

  • Onset: Within 1 hour
  • Peak effect: 2–4 hours
  • Duration: Up to 24 hours of acid suppression

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole or any component of the formulation
  • Severe hepatic impairment (use with caution)

Adverse Effects

Generally well tolerated.
Possible mild side effects include:

  • Headache, dizziness
  • Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain
  • Flatulence or dry mouth

Precautions

  • Evaluate for gastric malignancy before initiating therapy.
  • Use with caution in patients with liver disease.
  • Prolonged therapy may cause hypomagnesemia or vitamin B12 deficiency.
